***ACT II***

Promise me, O women of Jerusalem,
by the gazelles and wild deer,
not to awaken love until the time is right.

     -Song of Solomon 2:7

We left off where the Princess had fallen from the Kingdom of light into the kingdom of darkness.  She is now a damsel in distress.   She has traded her lovely garments for the garments of a slave.  All life entrusted to her care has also fallen from its pure state.  Instead of living in harmony, life has become survival of the fittest.

Before her life was lived from her relationship with the King, his son the Prince, and their Heart.  Now she has died to that.  Instead, she lives a desolate life where she hungers and thirsts at the deepest level.  It is the result of a life severed from her source, the King.  No longer awakened to the Kingdom of light, the Princess is continuously drawn away by this new life that has taken a forefront role in hers.  It is the natural life that has been tainted by sin.  The natural life in its pure state is very beautiful, but now it is corrupt, carnal, and lives to satisfy its own selfish desires.  Its life is plugged into the kingdom of darkness where the prince of darkness, that evil villain rules.

Asleep to the King's voice and awakened to this carnal life the Princess finds herself enslaved in the kingdom of darkness.  This was never to be her destiny and the King wasted no time executing his plan to restore her to himself.  This plan will liberate her and unite her with the Prince, two-as-one, in holy matrimony.  Out of that union she will become a carrier of his light and bear his fruits unto life instead of fruits unto death.  Eye has not seen nor ear heard the good things the King has in store for his beloved Princess.  It is much too wonderful; an honored  inheritance of Father to child where all that the King has is hers.

Yet before she is awakened to the Kingdom of light and the Prince, the Princess needs to learn some fundamental truths about life without the King.  These truths are meant to turn her to him.

Another peak at the backstage will show a war raging against the King and his Kingdom.  This war is headed up by the evil villain who despises him and is determined to destroy his beloved Princess.  The King is so much more powerful than the evil villain and can dispose of him at anytime.  Many wonder why He doesn't, especially considering he is such a troublemaker always roaming around looking to devour the Princess.  There is no light in him and where ever he goes he brings darkness and evil intentions.  Cunning and deceptive he is full of false promises and poisoned fruits that only lead to death.  Yes, cutting the evil villain's role would seem to be the optimal solution, but the King is really bright, after all, light comes from Him and unless we are living in his light we won't understand his ways.

The Princess' story is first and foremost about her relationship with the King, his Son the Prince, and their Heart.  The King doesn't want a slave, He wants children who see his beauty and love him wholeheartedly.  This isn't a selfish thing on his part for unspeakable and unmeasurable joy is found in his presence and love, and their expressed love for him completes their joy.

So we can see that the evil villain is not the real problem here.  Don't get me wrong, he isn't an innocent bystander and he is guilty of many acts of rebellion,  although the Princess will have to realize that the problem lies with her and her choice to go about life apart from the King.  She was created for a more glorious destiny but it won't be forced on her.  He has given her freewill to choose between life and death, light and darkness, good and evil...to choose his love.  Unfortunately she made an unwise, foolish, and very costly choice when she chose to listen to the evil villian over the King.  Even so, the King will turn things around to work in their favor.  The evil villain's role will eventually be cut, but for now he and his evil intentions will be used as a supporting role that will help the Princess come into her glorious destiny.

And until the appointed time for the Prince to make the ultimate sacrifice where she can attain by grace through faith all that is in store for her, the King puts a guardian over the Princess.  He assigns her an honorable Knight who will look after her while this carnal nature lives within.  This white Knight is very good and is made up of many laws that are a shadow of the Prince.  In his supporting role he is to serve and protect her from the kingdom of darkness.  He's a minor character in her life with a temporary assignment until her leading man, the Prince of Peace, can enter her life and join her to himself; to awaken her to their love and lead her within.  United with the Prince the Knight's role as her guardian will come to an end, but for now he will be something she can perceive in her darkened state.

If the Princess keeps these laws she will enjoy many blessings, but if she breaks them she will reap the consequences of sin and rebellion against the King.  Because of his purity and goodness sin cannot co-exist with the King, and He cannot let it continue forever for its fruits are wickedness and death.  Where one lives, the other will cease to exist.

The Princess embraces her Knight and is determined to live by his demands.  They are now yoked together.  It doesn't take her too long to realize the power of her carnal nature.  She wants to do good but finds a war raging within.  Even if she is able to keep the laws on an exterior level, her heart betrays her and constantly strays.  All sorts of evil desires come springing forth, a product of the fallen life within.  Instead of stirring her to good the laws uncover the life of sin lurking within as she bears its fruits unto death.  As a result she continuously stumbles and falls. What could have been a blessing, brought a curse instead.

The Princess could have turned to the King to help her, she has no excuse.  See, even though the Prince had yet to enter her world and set her free, the King was looking ahead at what He would do.  He holds the power to save her and bring her into her destiny as she puts her faith in him, but she continues in her own efforts to try and live by the law.  This Knight became a heavy burden and yoke, a sentence of death.

And it will do her good to remember that the Knight is noble and good, he's not at fault.  This would be a lesson he would teach her, that the problem lies with her and the sin within.  It takes what is good and uses it for its own selfish and evil purposes.  That is the nature of this ungodly beast, it cannot be reformed.  This life inherited in the fall needs to be put to death.

But just as the sin within her takes the good and uses it for evil, it is the good nature of the King to take the bad and turn it around for good and He can do it for He is much more powerful than anything else.  This life of sin grieves the King so for He loves her dearly and it keeps her separated from him.  He's so pure He and sin cannot co-exist.  Like bringing light into darkness, his life would consume her and she would no longer exist.  What a grievious position her choice put them in, yet his love for her runs deep and He will pay the ultimate price to set her free from this bondage of sin.  He'll also impart his life to her and like the loving Father He is, draw her close to him.

Sometimes the fact that there is no real life, no real love, and no real good apart from the King is not real apparent to the darkened soul for the King has left the Prince's light shining upon her.  She is not totally without light, but his light needs to be in her and that will cost him his only begotten and beloved Son, the Prince.

I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.  I love God’s law with all my heart.  But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.  Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?  Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.
