"Host an International Student" for the Christmas break in Orlando, Fl...Monday Dec. 20 to Wed. Dec. 29th 2010.
"Jesus said "I was a stranger and you invited me in'"...
Ready to get out of your comfort zone? There are more than 600,000 university students from around the world who have come to America to study. We want them to experience the love of Christ. About 75 of them will be here on the IFM Christmas Tour. IFM is International FRIENDSHIP Ministries.
The tour is a great opportunity for both the student and American host families. The host families expect to BE a blessing as they give, but generally RECEIVE a great blessing too.
Many of the students have never experienced Christmas (or an American home). Would your family consider helping an international student to understand the significance of this important holiday?
Frequently a student is exposed to the gospel here in the USA but come to trust Christ as Savior when they return to their home country. This was the case with Radine, from China. This is part of her E-mail to her host family.
"DEAR WAYNE AND BONITA...IT IS SO NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU. THERE'S SOMETHING I HAVE TO SHARE WITH YOU. I ATTENDED A THREE-DAY CHINESE GOSPEL CAMP WITH MY FRIENDS DURING THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND I ACCEPT GOD ON SUNDAY! SO NOW WE ARE FAMILY! I'LL START TO GO TO BIBLE STUDY... MISS YOU ALL, RADINE".
Your involvement in their lives can have an impact for eternity!
Cordially,
Dr. Raj Aluri
President
International Friendship Ministry
Dr. Raj is a 4th generation Christian from India. When he came here to the USA to get his Master's Degree, NO ONE invited him to come eat or stay with them. He felt led to begin this ministry...My husband Wayne and I have hosted now for 22 Christmas's. We have hosted more than 70 international students from every continent except from Antartica! Ideally, it is best to only have one or two students stay with you, but there were so few American Host Families and I could not stand the idea of these precious students staying in a hotel during Christmas...so we MADE ROOM AT OUR "INN" ha ha.
If you cannot host this year...would you forward this information on to folks you know who might? We still have need for 33 more 'beds' . Thank you!
Anyway, please consider hosting. If not this year...then next. We do this every year.
