Ambassadors for Jesus
Committed to Learning and Growing in Him

Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. ~Romans 8:16-18
It was days like this that Reuben had grown to detest and love. It always started out the same, things would start to go south and he'd feel like the job was too great. So much was a mess and there was still so much to do. Then just when it seemed like they'd take two steps forward, something would happen and they'd take two steps back. Had it not been for those incredible moments the Lord lavished on him as he took up his cross and followed him he probably would have already given up...but he feels the winds changing now. Those awesome moments are coming more frequently. He wasn't sure what that meant but he knows the clouds are parting and his faith is growing. Alex was right, they hold a promise of what is yet to come.
Reuben was so thankful for the continuous support he received from Alex, his coworker and brother in-Christ. Although he did love his brothers in-law, he knew nothing could compare to a relationship built on Christ. His wife and kids were proof of it, and now in Alex he had found someone he shared a similar goal with, to see the body of Christ come together as one. There were many challenges and tears that came with it, but there were also great joys that outshined the pain. In so many ways he and Alex seemed so different. They were each playing on teams that overall seemed opposed to each other, but in Christ he and Alex have been able to go deeper, find common ground in Father's heart of love where they have united to rise above it all. Alex was also like a big brother to him, encouraging him through it all. Reuben couldn't wait to see him again so he could tell him what was happening to him and let Alex know that "yes", he sees what he's been talking about...partaking of the sufferings of Christ that continue in his body.
Reuben then looked around and thought,This place may not seem like much now but I have riches that moths and thieves cannot touch. I have Father's love in Christ. I have a beautiful wife and children, and a wonderful friend in Alex. How much richer can a man get in this fallen world? Yet he knew there was much more to come...
