Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
~Proverbs 3:5-6
Alex shook his head as he replayed his morning. What was that all about? Strange he was accustomed to, yet he was most intrigued by the visitor who had crossed his path in such a dramatic way. Had she not slammed into his life the way she had he may have missed her as work had consumed much of his attention and time.
Alex thought she was very pretty, although this was one diversion he was definitely not looking for, but now that circumstances had brought them together he was curious to see how it would play out. Could something develop? Once again his musings took him by surprise as he hadn't indulged such thoughts in a very long time. It was as if that part of his life had fallen into a deep sleep to now be abruptly awakened without taking his thoughts and concerns into consideration.
Feeling he didn't need this in his life right now Alex tried to put her out of his mind, yet even as he tried to convince himself his heart defied his reasonings and his thoughts returned to Sarah. He had to admit he was glad the shop held her bike for he would be picking it up and returning it to her when the repairs were done and that would give him the opportunity to see her again.
Did she even care to see him again? He couldn’t blame her if she didn’t. Oh sure, she didn’t make a big fuss over being inconvenienced, that’s putting it mildly. It did seem sincere, but what did she really think of it all...and if she knew the truth would she feel any differently?
Well it seemed she got the raw end of the stick from the go and handled it quite well. He was impressed. At least he didn’t have to lay those cards out on the table for circumstances took the liberty of revealing that hand.
She seemed different, it was what stood out to him when
they had first met. There was something really genuine about her that appealed to him, along with her sweet and caring nature.
And then there was the matter of her razor-sharp vision, although it appeared she didn't quite know how to interpret it all. That is exactly where he saw mistakes in the past and as a result found himself guarded around strangers.
Yet there was something else about this visitor, something very familiar, but he knew they had never met before...he would have remembered her. He hoped for the opportunity of a friendship to develop and from that relationship get to know her better.
Alex also found himself wondering if the Lord was up to something with her visitation, God knows her vision was right on the mark. It confirmed what he already knew, but he was also fully aware there was more to sight than surface appearances and he had insider information.
Would she be open to learning more and allow him to make up for lost ground? Did he even want to invest the time? Even as he asked himself these questions he already knew the answer. He vowed to share with the Lord and keep it all in prayer.
