Home Building
Currently Under Construction

Phase one by Jo
Do We Know Him?
When I was in college I took a Psychology course. During the first day of class our instructor told us that the course would probably not be what we were expecting. And yes, it was not quite what I had expected. The course consisted of laying the foundational work for future construction. With these same sentiments and starting point, I will begin the topic of "home building".
A Godly home is made up of those that live in it (1 Corinthians 3). From my observations I have noticed a good deal of the strains within a home come from members looking to change each other and / or bring unity where disunity exists. This can lead to exerting much time and energy going around in circles without making any true progress. The result, frustrated and exhausted members, and may even lead to more serious issues. In order to build a Godly home where all are united in Jesus, each member must maintain personal accountability to the Lord. The same exists in other expressions of the family life, like the Spiritual body of Christ. As we are rightly related to Father, we will find His Spirit at work bringing our families together in Christ.
If you intend to follow along on this exploration of home building, it may help you to take some time out and watch a home or building being newly constructed. Go ahead, pack lunch and bring your bible. Find a nice bench to sit on and prayerfully observe the work before you. And if you don't have the time or resources to view one, you can always do some prayerful research right at your fingertips.
Before we begin construction it will help us to understand the process taking place and where the workers begin. So where is that work generally begun? If one is to understand how one is to construct a Godly home one must be familiar with the owner and his blueprints. Our heavenly Father is truly the Master builder. Unless the Lord builds our homes, we labor in vain (Psalm 127:1).
Jeremiah 9:23-24
This is what the Lord says:
“Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom,
or the powerful boast in their power,
or the rich boast in their riches.
But those who wish to boast
should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
who demonstrates unfailing love
and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
I, the Lord, have spoken!
A very important element in construction. If we miss this crucial step we may end up building a home that is not to the owner's specifications and tastes. We will then find that He doesn't want such a home and now has no intentions of moving in. A demolition crew may be ordered in. What a sad position that puts the workers in. They themselves will be saved yet they will have suffered loss.
Jesus died not only to save us but to reconcil us back to Father God. To bridge the gap between us and Him so that we also can enjoy a most intimate and personal relationship with Him as his beloved children in whom He delights. So that we can get to "know Him" at heart. Take time out today to reflect on the wonderful door Jesus has opened for you and enter in. Share your heart and burdens with the Lord. It gives him great joy. Open his word, his blue prints for your life, and allow Him to stir your spirit to His as He guides you through the wonderful treasures therein. As you do so, you will find Him revealing his life and heart with you. And remember that his word is so much more than blue prints for our lives. It is first and foremost the greatest love story ever told. It is revealed in his living word Jesus. Jesus is Father revealed in the flesh.
