Episode 6:
A Rude Awakening
(www.ambassadorsforJesus5.com)
The other day I encountered one of “them mornings“. You know, when your day starts off on the wrong footing.
It all began as I lay in bed trying to fall back asleep. After several quick trips to that blissful state of unconsciousness, I gave up on going there for more than a brief visit and with some good ole resolve and self-effort, I worked my way out of bed. And THAT is when it began...
Although there may be some minor changes in the finer details, each time it is basically the same. Taken off guard you stare straight ahead as if frozen in time. The blood starts to
rush to your head and like bats getting a wiff of fresh blood, thoughts begin flying all around you. You say to yourself, ‘Na, na, nana noooooooooo, it can’t be...must be some mix up or awful mistake.’ Disappointment settles in and before you know it, you sense panic following close behind. You then hear madness knocking on your door.
“Boom, boom, boom.”

Quenching the mounting urge to screeeaaam, you are able to find just enough strength to hold him at bay. Even so, you sense you are working against time as you frantically search every nook and cranny for any sign of that ingredient that will rescue you from these uninvited guests threatening your peace of mind...
And to what do I owe the rocky start to “them mornings”?
The much anticipated delight of jump-starting my day with a flavorful hot cup of coffee, only to be rudely awakened from my dreamy state by the sobering realization that I am out of sugar...
Or coffee...or creamer.
What did you think I was talking about?
Oh, the awful let down of going for them
ingredients only to
find that you are out of one, robbing you of your perfect cup of coffee and threatening to cut off that boost of caffeine you have come to rely on to kick-start your day. Equipped with anticipation alone, you hadn’t realized the power you had unwittingly handed over, and the dangerous heights you’ve been climbing. Yet with the entrance of disappointment and panic, you discover the perilous state you are in as you find madness threatening to push you over the edge of this nightmare of a cliff.
Or is this just another drama in the life of this drama queen?
Either way, what is a gal like me to do?
Whether you find yourself an eccentric character like me...or not, I’m sure you can relate to my dilemma on some level and scenario in life.
Here is an insightful observation and a valuable tip guaranteed to keep you sane:
Misplaced “anticipation” will take you for a ruthless ride toward disappointment, panic, and rob you of your peace of mind. So, root it in Jesus and instead of it working against you, you will find it a valuable tool that will help you soar to healthy new heights.
Isaiah 26: 3-4
