Faith is substance, yet when faith is used it is used in conjunction with the unseen, or not physically apparent. It is "the evidence of things not seen". Is faith really blind? I would have to answer no. Faith is not some wishful thinking. It also doesn't deny the physical evidence before it but travels beyond it. It is substance and evidence. These are concrete things. It is a knowing that is solid and concrete, a knowing of the heart. To see with the eyes of our hearts. These things cannot be faked and like the parable of the sower and the seed, time and circumstances will reveal how deeply rooted we are in his truth. So how do we come to believe? Romans 10:17 (KJV) - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. As the truth of his Word is revealed to us by his Spirit (2 Corinthians 2:14) we will see with the eyes of our hearts and believe. We also know there is a gift of faith (1 Corinthians 12) that some are given for the common good. Whatever portion of faith has been give to us we know the Lord gives increase with good stewardship. So the next time you find yourself lacking in faith consider drawing closer to our Lord, confessing your lack, and ask Him to reveal Himself and his Word to you so that you may come to see with the eyes of your heart and believe. And remember that our faith needs to be in Him. Not on our limited knowledge, not in our circumstances, but in Him. When the changing landscapes seem to defy what we feel we know of his ways we can always trust in His love and goodness. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) - Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.
